La Celia Supremo Blend 2008

Blend of estate-grown 65% Malbec,
15% Cab Franc, 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Tannat.
Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. 1100m asl.

65% Malbec, 15% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and 5% Tannat from the Uco Valley at 1100m asl., hand-picked and fermented to 14.8% alc., the wine spending 24 days on skins and aged 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Very full, near impenetrable black-hued purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is full, solid and densely packed with aromas of ripe and opulent black plums, blackberries, liquorice, earth and spices, harmoniously entwined, unfolding in waves of interest and detail. Full-bodied, smooth, rich and lush flavours of ripe black fruits are combined with liquorice, earth, spices and spicy, cedary oak. The flavours bloom and fill the mouth, revealing layers of richness. The mouthfeel is seamless in flow, with very fine-grained tannins building in presence and providing the structure to balance the fruit sweetness. Complexing herb, mineral iron-earth and tar elements emerge and carry through to a very long, sustained finish. This is a rich, layered, black fruited Malbec-based wine with complex earth, herb, and spicy oak detail.

Aging potential: 10+ years.
